Captain Thomas Wogan signed the death warrant for Charles I, but despite years of being a Roundhead, he turned Royalist and supported the monarchy. Unfortunately, after several months of desultory warfare in which his skill and courage gained him the highest reputation, he had the misfortune to be dangerously wounded and, no surgical assistance being within reach, his short but glorious career was terminated.
